Waterfront
Still Life #7
Some Time in May
All Good Things
Waterfront
Feel the ocean
Deep beneath your skin
Feel the waves, pulsing on the shore
As the tide comes in
We could go to the movies
We could take in a show
You know how much I like to go dancing, baby
But tonight there’s somewhere else I want to go
Take me to the waterfront
Tonight, tonight
Take me to the waterfront, tonight
Steam liner
Take us with you
Far off on the horizon
Disappearing into blue
Someday I will come back
And dream with you some more
The sea ahead, the sky above
I’m waiting on the shore
Take me to the waterfront
Tonight, tonight
Take me to the waterfront, tonight
I don’t want to go anywhere else
And I want to go there with you
Take me to the waterfront
Take me to the waterfront
Take me to the waterfront
Tonight
Still Life #7
it's in an array of words that i can't think of any
surrounded by needles that i won't get my fix
pages and pages to step through, and wade through, and strangle in
they end up in the garbage or just clogging up the vents
so many people say things that make so much sense
but at the end of the day i'm still left in suspense
there's more to me than just what you see on the piano bench
and i believe there's more to you, too
wake up and you see me looking in the mirror
i look back through it and see you looking at me
if there are more of us does it make it any clearer?
just cause you can do it do you think it should be?
so many people say things that make so much sense
but at the end of the day i'm still left in suspense
there's more to me than just matter on the piano bench
and i believe there's more to you, too
some time in may
rusted truck struggling to stay in 5th
muffler roaring, radio turned up loud
some voice ive never heard of
singing his soul over a slide guitar, singing proud
big sunset over Rainbow Valley
some feeling i never heard of, no word i know
but i’m feeling it, oh lord, i’m feeling it
and i wanna drive forver, don’t want to go home yet
just keep this tune on, soul unraveling the soul
gotta hit the steering wheel when the radio cuts out
hit it desperately, just to get my fix
of this aching, and this tugging
but there’s no word for it
but i got this feeling you’d know what i mean
and you would sing it along with me
yes, you would, oh yes you would:
rusted truck flying down the freeway, sunset fading…
and i wanna drive forver, don’t want to go home yet
just keep this tune on, soul unraveling the soul.
All Good Things
I was sitting on the avenue
waiting for my ship to come in
and a lot sailed by me that afternoon
but I let them go by me
I let them go by me
I let them go by me
I let them all go by me
cause all good things still take what they take
the first day we met you asked me if I loved you
I said I got a handful of nothing to last for a while
You can speed-dial, take viagra, but you can’t microwave love, babe
so I let you go by me
I let you go by me
I let you go by me
I let you go right by me
cause all good things still take what they take
I’ve had my bags packed a thousand times
though I just don’t seem to leave home
been the window shopper and lifter
street player and payer and I’ve been a drifter
but I never found a scene that set me truly free…
so, I’ve been sitting on the avenue
still waiting for my ship to come in
and a lot sailed by me that afternoon
but I let them go by me
I let them go by me
I let them go by me
I let them all go be me
cause all good things still take what they take
